Highchair Recalled by Atlanta-Based Graco Children's Products Inc.

Product recalls are a hassle for all consumers, but are important in keeping buyers safe and up to date on the mishaps associated with products that we purchase. Perhaps the most dangerous product recalls are those of children's products. Parents must rely on manufacturers' declarations that products sold on shelves will be safe for their children. Merchandise that will be used by kids and parents of infants should be safe in every aspect, but this is not always the case. For instance, the popular Bumbo seats were recalled recently due to a design flaw that allowed children to tip over while seated. Many times product recalls occur as a result of injuries or fatalities associated with these products.

As recently as October, children's products have been recalled due to injuries as a result of mishaps. Graco Children's Products Inc. released a recall announcement for the company's classic wooden highchair because the seat loosens and detaches from the base. This could present a fall hazard for children. Nine injuries were reported, which led to this recall for products sold from September 2007 until December 2010 in the United States and Canada. The company's solution was to request parents cease use immediately and contact the company for a free repair kit. The Bumbo recall issued a very similar solution.

In the event that defective products result in injuries or fatalities, one can find themselves overwhelmed and confused. This reaction is much worse when the victim is a child or infant. First and foremost, you should seek immediate medical attention at an emergency room or your primary doctor. Medical expenses can add up, but if the manufacturer is found responsible for the product that injured your child, it may be their responsibility to pay those bills. Once you have sought medical treatment for the victim, it is important to contact an experienced Woodstock product liability attorney. We understand all of the options involved in these types of cases and will help relieve some of you stress.
