A settlement was recently obtained for a 67-year-old man by Marietta injury attorney M. Chase Swanson. The gentleman contacted Jones & Swanson after he was injured in an automobile crash on Highway 92 in Acworth. He was driving northbound when the young driver of another vehicle attempted to make a left turn in front of him. Unfortunately, the other driver misjudged the distance between their vehicles, pulled directly in front of our client’s vehicle, and caused a terrible T-bone collision which sent our client and his vehicle plummeting down an embankment where it rolled over and landed on its side. Because the young driver failed to yield the right of way, she was issued a citation by the investigating police officer.
Mr. Swanson’s client was immediately taken to the emergency room at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. There he was treated for his injuries including chest and elbow pain. Unfortunately, his pain did not resolve and his back also became very stiff and sore. He was eventually diagnosed with a thoracic strain and nerve root irritation. Throughout his treatment with an orthopedist and pain specialist, our client had to take a variety of medications for the pain and inflammation, as well as participate in physical therapy and home exercise programs.
Although several of his injuries got better, our client continues to experience pain and discomfort in his back which interferes with his daily activities. In addition to the physical pain he suffered as a result of this incident, the severity of the impact has become a source of significant anxiety for him. This collision occurred less than half a mile from his home, and he is now forced to drive through the same area nearly every day.
