Graco Stroller Recall

Graco Children's Products announced in November that more than 4.5 million strollers sold in the United States are being recalled due to laceration and amputation hazards. The hinge on the side of the strollers can pinch a child's finger, which may lead to severe cuts. So far there have been 11 reports of injuries to fingers as a result of the Graco stroller defect. Six of those incidents involved fingertip amputation, while another four involved partial-fingertip amputation and one laceration.

The eleven Graco and Century brand stroller models included in the recall are:

  • Aspen
  • Breeze
  • Capri
  • Cirrus
  • Glider
  • Kite
  • LiteRider
  • Sierra
  • Solara
  • Sterling
  • TravelMate

Each of these stroller models hold only a single child and have a sliding fold-lock hinge on both side of the unit, with another fold release button on the stroller handle. They were manufactured between August of 2000 and September 25, 2014. For a complete list of model names and numbers, visit www.cpsc.gov.

If your stroller is included in this product recall, you should use extra caution when using the strollers and contact Graco immediately. The company will send a complimentary repair kit to alleviate the potential hazard.

Product defects such as this are always troubling, as children are typically affected first-hand. Injuries as a result of a defective product are always unfortunate, but it is our job as adults to protect our children. These types of situations make us more keenly aware of the dangers seemingly-safe products can pose to our kids without our knowledge. Fortunately, Graco is taking responsibility by announcing this voluntary recall. We hope that it prevents additional injuries from arising as a result of the hinge issue.

If you or someone you know has been injured as a result of a defective product, you may have a claim for compensation. The company who manufactured the product can be held liable for your injuries, and therefore made to pay medical bills and more. For a free consultation, call (770) 427-5498.
