What is the FLSA?

The Fair Labor Standards Act, or FLSA, sets forth the federal minimum wage, overtime laws, recordkeeping requirements, child labor laws, and more. Essentially, this act puts in place the majority of federal employment laws. This act covers most, but not all employees working in the United States.
