Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Get Ready for a Deposition and What Questions Will Be Asked?

A deposition is a form of oral, as opposed to written, discovery. Depositions are implemented by counsel to do several things, including evaluation of the individual as a witness and gathering information about the accident and your injuries. Typically, the deposition is held in your attorney’s conference room and is otherwise an informal process.

There is no judge or jury, but a court reporter will take down everything that is said by you or the attorneys. Depositions are given under oath, so it is important to always tell the truth in your deposition and fully listen to and understand each question before answering. In preparation for a deposition, we often meet with our clients for more than an hour beforehand. Depositions are certainly important, and with the right preparation are a great opportunity so there is no need to be anxious about giving one.
