Ford and Honda Recall Over 500,000 Vehicles

Ford and Honda Vehicle Recalls

Ford and Honda just published major recalls of over 500,000 vehicles for models between the years 2020 to 2025.

If you have unaffected vehicles, you are still encouraged to check out the NHTSA’s recall VIN search. All you will need is your vehicle’s VIN and you will be redirected to a page listing all the related recalls and the severity of the issue. From there, you are instructed to contact your vehicle manufacturer for further instructions on how to remedy the situation. If the issue is not resolved promptly, you will need to contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline.

Ford

2020 Ford Explorer

2020 Lincoln Aviator

Ford is recalling roughly 240,000 SUVs due to an issue with the seatbelt hardware.

This recall spans across the 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models. These models may have improperly secured seatbelt buckle anchor bolts. In addition, vehicles with a second-row center seat may also have improperly secured bolts for their belt reactor at that seat’s position. If these bolts are not tight enough, this could cause the seatbelts to not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

If your belt bolts have any squeaks or rattles, this could be a clear indicator that they are not properly secured, Ford stated. Ford plans to alert owners via mail starting Mar. 31st.

Manufacturers are advised to inspect the seatbelt anchor bolts on all seats, as well as the second-row center seatbelt retractor. If loose, components will be replaced free of charge. If you have done work before amending this issue, they will reimburse customers. To contact Ford, you can call 1-866-436-7332, the number for this recall is 25S09. You can also check the status of recalls from their website here.

Honda

2022 Acura TLX Type S2022 Acura MDX Type S

American Honda is recalling about 295,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in the U.S. to update the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) software.

Due to an error in the programming of the FI-ECU, any sudden variation in throttle can cause the check engine light to come on, and lead to a loss of drive power, hesitate, or stall, increasing the risk of a crash leading to injury. This affects the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot, 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type S, and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type S models.

American Honda themselves stated they had self-diagnosed the issue by monitoring telematics information and determined they needed to update the software for those parts.

Any owner of an affected vehicle will be contacted via mail in March and will be asked to take their vehicles to authorized Honda or Acura dealers to update this software for free.

Owners of these vehicles can also determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com, or by calling (888) 234-2138.
