Every Trucking Case Needs an Experienced Truck Accident Attorney

Unlike regular auto accident cases, tractor trailer personal injury cases involve large commercial vehicles. These 18 wheelers and big rigs can cause far more significant injuries and damages than cars, trucks, or SUVs. These large commercial trucks weigh approximately 80,000 pounds compared to standard passenger vehicles that weigh a mere 3,000 pounds. Because of the size and weight differences, most tractor trailer accidents result in serious injuries or even wrongful deaths.

This month, the Marietta area experienced one of these devastating accidents. On Wednesday, July 11 two people were killed and several injured in an accident involving a tractor trailer truck and several automobiles. The accident occurred in Douglas County on Thornton Road near South Blairs Bridge Road at around 10:30 in the morning. According to a Georgia State Patrol spokesman, the 18 wheeler was traveling northbound on Thornton Road when it struck a Nissan on the driver’s side, killing both passengers. A total of 10 people and six vehicles were involved in the accident. Witnesses stated that the big rig went through a red light and slammed on its brakes before broadsiding the Nissan. This Douglas County trucking accident was so severe that the intersection was closed until 6 P.M. on the 11th.
