Salon Arcaro has recently merged with Salon CLK, marking the opening of a second location in Roswell, which goes by the same name but is informally referred to as Salon Arcaro 2.
Known as one of Downtown Roswell’s premier salons, Salon Arcaro is celebrated for its talented team of award-winning stylists and exceptional service, qualities that will continue to follow them to their new location.
Our Marketing Coordinator, Isabelle Geller, along with her intern, Lauren McDaniel, had the opportunity to sit down with owner Adam Awtrey and co-owner Casey Keeter to learn more about the story behind the salon’s success and its exciting new chapter
Q1: WHO ARE YOU?
Adam Awtrey: Owner of Salon Arcaro
Adam began his career as a hairdresser in 1988, training through Vidal Sassoon and Martin Parsons. He went on to work at Joel & Co. in Savannah for several years before returning to Cobb in 1992. By 1995, Adam had opened his first salon, Blue Moon, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey in the beauty industry.
Throughout his 29-year industry career(including 6 years of editorial work), Adam has continued to grow professionally, and “loves educating new people.” He has attended many industry events, building connections with top stylists and staying current with trends. Adam is passionate about his craft and truly loves what he does. With decades of experience, Adam uses his knowledge to continue educating and empowering his team, helping them thrive and succeed in the beauty industry.
Adam tells us, “I have to look at everyone’s situation. I like to ask for everyone’s 5-year plan. I want to know their five-year plan, and also their business five-year plan. Where do they see themselves? What do they need? Whether they’re a seasoned hairdresser, if they’re older, or younger, what’s your plan? I want to know where they’re going to be, because I’m trying to help them and coach them.”
Casey Keeter: Co-owner of Salon Arcaro 2
Casey Keeter, a proud East Cobb native, graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in psychology. While she hasn’t pursued a cosmetology license, Casey has taken numerous industry-related courses and brings over 25 years of experience in salon management. Her true passion lies in the creative aspects of the beauty industry, client relations, and the business side of her salon operations.
Three years ago, Casey founded Salon CLK, driven by her vision of blending exceptional service with a welcoming atmosphere. She partnered with Adam Awtrey since they both knew they wanted to work together, to evolve that vision into what is now Salon Arcaro’s second location.
Q2: WHERE DID SALON ARCARO START?
Salon Arcaro was founded in 2004 in honor of Adam’s grandparents’ name and is run by Adam and his Business partner, Christian Markovich. This is Adam’s fifth salon that he has opened, and he continues to love what he does. He is currently working towards opening two more salons soon.
Q3: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
These days, for Adam, most of his free time is spent at the salon. He dedicates a lot of time coaching his employees so that they are always learning new techniques and providing clients with the highest quality of care possible. Adam has spent the past 15 years raising his three children on his own. With his youngest two graduating this year, he is now in the process of opening two more salons. When he does find free time, Adam enjoys golfing, diving, and bowling, but his primary focus remains the salon and “raising teenagers.”
Outside of work, Casey enjoys staying active, spending time with her children and dogs, and continuing to foster meaningful connections with both clients and team members.
Q4: WHAT ARE SOME UPCOMING EVENTS?
Salon Arcaro hosts many educational events for stylists in the community and from other salons, allowing them to expand their knowledge and giving them the tools they need to grow in the industry and go further. Most of these events are held at Salon Arcaro.
Casey tells us: “We do a lot of education for both salons regularly. Typically we use this salon for the location because it’s a little more open. We want to be offering these classes to outside hairdressers and outside salons, so that we can just sort of join all of the salon world together. We’ll do stuff for our clients during the holidays and have a big event where we sell gift cards. We have major discounts on every product.”
Q6: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THE ROSWELL COMMUNITY, AND HOW ARE YOU INVOLVED?
Adam tells us, ” I used to buy hay here as a child. I will always love the community. Cobb County raised me. I may not live here now, but I do intend to move back. I love the Roswell community. They have always stood behind me.” Adam truly shows his love through many local charities, schools, and events that he has run. “I’ve been an owner since 1997, so I’ve been sponsoring Roswell all over the place. I have sponsored the Roswell Rec and the Sandy Springs Theater. I’m a big advocate for dance and theater. I was part of the #1 Rotarian for Roswell. We were #1 for 12 consecutive years. I was part of the CVB for 3 years. I have sponsored Lassiter High School and Roswell High School. My goal is to sponsor all Cobb County Schools.”
Adam has continued to show his support in all aspects of Roswell. He is a big advocate and supporter of the Women’s Club and continues to try to empower those around him.
