Giving Back to the Cobb County Community

The attorneys and staff members at Jones & Swanson take pride in being active in Marietta and surrounding Cobb County communities. We feel that it is important to give back to the community as much as possible.

Attorney Chase Swanson is active on the Sleighbells on the Square Chairing Committee. Each year, he works with the Cobb County Bar Association to make this 5K/1K/Tot Trot a success. This wonderful community event is aimed at raising funds for the Cobb Children’s Emergency Fund, which provides children and their families with financial assistance in true emergency situations. Because the funds are maintained and distributed by the Cobb Bar, 100% of proceeds go to helping those in our community who need it most.

The 14 th Annual Sleighbells on the Square 5K/1K/Tot Trot took place on December 13, 2014. We are happy to announce that, yet again, the road race was a huge success! Approximately 1,000 citizens participated in the event, which allowed a net total of nearly $24,000 for the Children’s Emergency Fund. As of January 9, 2015, the Children’s Emergency Fund had granted 82 requests totaling $27,000 since the start of the 2014 school year. We are so thankful to participants, sponsors, and volunteers for making this year’s race such a success.

This year, the High School, Middle School, and Elementary School with the most participants at the race were provided $600 rewards. Schools that came in second place were granted $250. Nickajack Elementary came in first place, followed by Brumby Elementary. Barber Middle School took the first place position, followed closely by SAE Middle School. First place in the high school category went to SAE High School, followed by Sprayberry High School in second. Our very own Attorney Chase Swanson had the pleasure of presenting Barber Middle School with their $600 check. Congratulations to all schools who participated!

We are proud to be a part of the Cobb County community and hope that next year will yield an even better turnout for the Sleighbells race!
