Graco Recalls SnugRide Turn & Slide Seats Due To Structural Issues

Graco Children's Products announced a recall of a limited number of SnugRide Turn & Slide products due to a structural issue identified during a post-production laboratory test, according to their latest recall alert.

Graco Children’s Products announced a recall of a limited number of SnugRide Turn & Slide products due to a structural issue identified during a post-production laboratory test, according to their latest recall alert.

DETAILS OF THE GRACO RECALL

This recall only affects the Turn & Slide models; no other Graco rotating seats, like the EasyTurn and Turn2Me, are included. The affected car seats were sold in the United States via Amazon, Babylist, Target, Walmart, and GracoBaby.com from January through March of this year.
In a statement released by Graco, owners of the affected models will be provided a replacement model at no cost to them. Graco asks those who own a SnugRide Turn & Slide product to stop using the seat with the base. The current seat by itself may continue to be used without it, in accordance with the product instructions, while you wait for your selected replacement product.

WHICH GRACO SNUGRIDE TURN & SLIDE SEATS ARE RECALLED?

The following models are affected:

  • Product: Infant Car Seats, Model Number(s):
    • 2231809 Noir / Black
    • 2231887 Sandstone / Tan
    • 2231806 Mulberry / Girl-Plum
    • 2231885 Sandstone / Tan
    • 2231881 Noir / Black
    • 2231884 Noir / Black
  • Product: Car Seat Base, Model Number(s):
    • 2231810 Black
  • Product: Travel System, Model Number(s):
    • 2243083 Noir / Black

It is important to note that, for the travel system, the stroller is not affected. Both infant car seat replacement options are designed to work with your existing travel system stroller.

HOW CAN I CHECK IF MY GRACO PRODUCT IS RECALLED?

Car Seat Label

Example Car Seat Label

  1. Review the product images on their recall page to confirm that you have an affected SnugRide Turn & Slide product.
  2. Locate the model number on the product label.
  3. Enter the model number on their recall page.
  4. Enter the serial number to help confirm your product details. The serial number is the five-digit number listed on the label under the Date of Manufacture.

If your product is included, Graco asks that you stop using the seat with the base entirely. The seat may continue to be used by utilizing your rear seat’s lap belt. Instructions are included with your product.

WHERE CAN I SUBMIT MY GRACO RECALLED CARSEAT FOR A REPLACEMENT?

Graco asks that owners complete their site’s registration form here and select a preferred replacement option. They do not want you to return the base to the store.

Replacement infant car seat options include:

  • SnugRide SnugFit DLX Maison (2156211) + additional SnugRide SnugFit base (2120612)
  • SnugRide SnugFit Gotham (2121500) + additional SnugRide SnugFit base (2120612)

Toddler seat options

  • EasyTurn Solae (2216076)
  • Turn2Me Brighton (2215409)

It is important to note that if you register a base-only product (model 2231810), you will only receive the SnugRide SnugFit base (2120612). Those are not eligible for full car seat replacement options.

CAR SEATS SAVE LIVES

Did you know that 1 in every 4 unintentional injury deaths for children is the result of a car crash? Jones & Swanson wants to remind everyone of the importance of proper car seat usage. Failing to do so puts your child at risk whenever you are on the road.

Proper use of seat belts, booster seats, or car seats can significantly decrease this risk. Seat belts can start being used between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. For children younger, you need a car seat or booster seat. You can read our very own Car Seat Safety blog on proper use, installation, and disposal of damaged car seats.
