Along Dallas Acworth Hwy in Paulding county lies the aptly-named “iluvmygeek” technology repair store. As the locally-owned and trusted authority on computer repair, virus removal, network installation, and more, Jones & Swanson had the pleasure of sitting down with the manager Tyler Stern.
Q1: Tell Us About Yourself.
Tyler Stern, manager of iluvmygeek, has been native to the Dallas area since he moved there on his 10th birthday. He grew up in sunny Orlando with his parents and two brothers, just 35 minutes from the beach.
True to his work, Tyler enjoys building computers in his free time. Beyond technology, his hobbies include hiking with his dogs–Luna and Coco– and playing video games. Some of his favorites include Call of Duty and Balder’s Gate 3. He is also engaged to be married later this year to our very own legal assistant, Hannah!
Q2: What Is Iluvmygeeks Story?
iluvmygeek was created 20 years ago in Florida by Tyler’s father, Robin. Originally working out of his home, Robin built the business big enough to quit his job running a signage company and pursue IT full-time.
6 years ago, Tyler took over the family business from his father and opened up their current storefront on Dallas Acworth Hwy. He had previously been pursuing a career in the medical field, but decided his calling lied in the technology field.
He had grown up working alongside his dad, learning the ins and outs of all things computers. Equipped with this knowledge, he has grown the business and now manages a team of three employees. His team is comprised of college students who are all pursuing degrees in IT-related fields. Tyler enjoys providing college students with the opportunity to build their skillset with hands-on experience.
Q3: What Do You Love About The Community In Dallas?
As a resident of the historic downtown area of Dallas, Tyler has enjoyed seeing the region flourish. Downtown Dallas has become a vibrant district that boasts locally-owned restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutiques, events, and more. Luckily for Tyler, he lives walking-distance from all the fun.
Serving the people of the Dallas area has also given Tyler and iluvmygeek a sense of gratitude for the community. Being able to establish relationships with his clientele and be a trustworthy source for all their technology needs is one of his favorite parts of the job.
iluvmygeek’s commitment to the area reflects in their well-deserved wins of both Paulding Community Partner of the Year and 2023 Best of Georgia Award.
q4: What Does The Future Of Iluvmygeek Look Like?
Tyler expressed his love for the challenge and problem-solving that every new day brings in his line of work. His ultimate goal is to bring support to even more customers by franchising and opening up new storefronts.
For now, Tyler and his team are focused on perfecting the process they have in place. Tyler believes building off a well-oiled machine is the key to successful expansion.
