Rexx Hudgins, and his wife Brandy, skillfully manage this awesome shop, while effectively growing strong ties within our local community! We here at Jones & Swanson would love to show you more of the story behind their business.
Q1: TELL US ABOUT YOURSELVES.
“My name is Rexx Hudgins and I, alongside my wife Brandy, own and operate T-Rexx Garage. In our spare time, you can find us at a Braves game, honestly, we love all sports, or exploring our local neighborhoods. We live in Smyrna with our two dogs and feel like there are so many awesome things to see and do right here in our own backyard!“
They are definitely huge sports fans as Brandy runs her own co-ed softball league in Smyrna and Rexx just so happens to run the competitive men’s baseball team in Marietta that our very own Rutledge Jones is a part of!
Q2: HOW DID YOUR BUSINESS ORIGINATE?
“This business began like all great ideas, a pipe dream. Ever since I was little, I dreamed of owning my own shop. From a very young age, I enjoyed working on cars and that has just grown over the years.”
During that time, Rexx realized there was a gap in the system with clients. Now, he prides himself on first educating customers about processes and then enabling them to make an informed decision. Like he always tells customers “You may only have to deal with this a few times in your life, but we deal with it every day, so we want to make sure you fully understand how everything works and how we can best serve you!”
The business itself began in the middle of COVID-19, January 2021, as many of the shops in the area were overworked and backlogged for months. T-Rexx Garage originated to put customers first and put importance on communication.
Q3: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE COMMUNITY HERE IN MARIETTA?
“I was stationed at Dobbins AFB while in the Marines, and that was really my first exposure to Marietta. From that point on I was hooked! Marietta is truly a hub for innovation and a melting pot of culture. We enjoy getting to meet so many customers from all backgrounds and helping them with their car needs, both big and small!“
Q4: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THIS BUSINESS?
“Helping people is what we are all about. In today’s world, a vehicle is an absolute necessity, to get us from point A to point B. Our duty to you is to make sure yours does exactly what you need it to do. We love working with customers and cars. Every day is a new challenge, and that’s invigorating for us!”
Q5: DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR FOLKS REGARDING THEIR CARS?
“Our biggest tip is to find a mechanic you trust, we know there are a lot of options out there, but just make sure it’s someone who takes the time to explain things to you and actually does the service they say they’re doing. Be empowered to know what to check too.”
Rexx added:
“One of the biggest maintenance issues we see is low fluids, specifically oil and coolant. Make sure you have routine services performed, and if you aren’t sure what those are – give us a call! Also, make sure you have the right insurance coverage on your car for any collisions, including rental car coverage!“
Q6: WHAT’S ONE OF THE BEST BUILDS YOUR GARAGE HAS DONE SO FAR?
“We did a frame-off restoration on a 1990 Chevrolet 1500 OBS, built 383 stroker fuel injected powertrain. The truck, also known as “Reptar,” has a stunning custom interior, custom paint, and wheels to round out the project! This was an awesome all-hands-on-deck build and really shows off all of our skills”.
