The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just issued a warning about almost 400,000 6-quart Power Quick Pot pressure cookers over a major burn risk that could cause significant injury. This issue has not yet been properly addressed by the parent importer.
Which Model of Pressure Cooker is Affected?
The affected pressure cookers are marked with the model number Y6D-36. These cookers were commonly sold on Walmart.com, Amazon.com, eBay.com, and other nationwide retailers between about July 2018 and November 2023, ranging in cost from $44 to $160.
The pressure cooker features a stainless-steel body with a black pressure lid, button controls, and a digital temperature and function display. “Power Quick Pot” is printed on the front top side, and the model number appears on a label on the back of the unit.

The pressure cookers were manufactured in China and imported into the United States by Tristar Products Inc., based in Altamonte Springs, Florida. According to the CPSC, the company refused to issue a recall or provide any form of remedy. This is despite receiving 24 reports of the cookers ejecting hot contents and causing serious burn injuries.
What Is Causing the burn risk?
The CPSC states ‘the pressure cooker’s lid can open while it is pressurized, causing hot contents to be spewed from the pot unexpectedly.’
The expelled hot contents can result in burns and significant injury.
What Can I do?
The warning urges users to stop using the pressure cookers and dispose of them. Do not attempt to sell or give away the hazardous product.
